How does a woman’s saliva change when she enters her fertile phase?
When a woman enters her fertile phase high estrogen levels cause her mucus membranes to secrete more bio-salts in cervical fluid, nasal fluid, tears and saliva. These fluids, when dried and viewed through a microscope, appear crystallized or ferned during a woman’s fertile phase. The Ovu-Trac® was designed specifically to measure bio-salt concentrations in saliva that indicate a transition from a non-fertile to a fertile state in women.

How effective is the Ovu-Trac® in telling me when I am fertile?
The phenomenon of salivary crystallization was discovered in 1969 by Spanish gynecologist

How often do I have to use the Ovu-Trac®?
It is very important that a woman use the Ovu-Trac® every day of her cycle - from the first day of menstruation until the next first day of menstruation. By doing this she can learn to identify changes in her individual salivary patterns that indicate fertility. She can also begin to link changes in her saliva to other physical changes in her body indicating she is entering her fertile phase - such as cervical fluid changes, breast tenderness, heightened sexual awareness, etc. If shortcuts are taken, and a woman skips a few days of testing, she may inadvertently miss her fertile phase. Many women do not know when they ovulate and are surprised by how quickly they learn about their fertility and cycles by using the Ovu-Trac® on a daily basis.

Does the Ovu-Trac® require refills or extra test strips?
The Ovu-Trac® is a completely re-usable product that requires no refills or test strips***. This makes it one of the most economical choices for in-home ovulation prediction on the market today.
***occasional replacement of the batteries or light bulb may be required.

If I have short, long or irregular cycles can I use the Ovu-Trac®?
The Ovu-Trac® is ideally suited for women with short, long or irregular cycles because it allows them to predict when they are fertile regardless of their cycle lengths. Most other ovulation predictor kits tell a woman to begin testing on day 11 of her cycle - day one being the first day of menstruation. This is fine if a woman has a “textbook” 28 day cycle where she ovulates at the exact same time every month - unfortunately this is less common than you would expect. Many women ovulate before or after the recommended test days for these ovulation predictor kits and miss their fertile phase altogether - essentially “flushing” their money down the toilet. This is because women ovulate approximately 13 days before they bleed. So if a woman has a 38 day cycle she would ovulate around day 25 (38-13=25), if she has a 21 day cycle she would ovulate around day 8 (21-13 = 8), and so on - so the math speaks for itself. The Ovu-Trac® offers women an individually focused approached to ovulation prediction based on real information - not on mathematical statistics.

Can I use the Ovu-Trac® if I am using hormonal contraception?
Hormonal contraceptives, such as the pill, Norplant, Depo Provera - or any others - cause a woman’s saliva to appear crystallized all of the time making interpretation very difficult. Hormonal residues from these types of contraceptives may remain present in a woman’s body for a very long time and can cause fertility problems. A woman can begin using the Ovu-Trac® as soon as she stops using hormonal contraception to assist her with monitoring her body’s cleansing process - as hormone levels in her body decrease her overall level of salivary crystallization should also decrease - except during her fertile phase which should still be easily distinguishable. Most women begin to distinguish almost normal salivary patterns within 6 months of stopping hormonal contraception.

Can I use the Ovu-Trac® if I am using fertility drugs?
Fertility drugs, such as clomiphene citrate (Clomid), assist a woman with her ovulatory cycle and do not interfere with salivary results.

How does the Ovu-Trac® differ from other saliva testers on the market?
There are many saliva fertility testers on the market, but few offer women the essential components to assist them with identifying fertility easily and effectively. The first problem with them is their magnification - most only offer between 33X and 55X - not sufficient to get clear results. The Ovu-Trac® offers quality optics with 100X magnification - almost double what the competition offers. Others saliva testers are simply magnifying lenses with no internal light source that are very difficult to use and interpret. Another common problem is the lack of educational literature and customer support services offered with these other testers. What happens if you need to ask a question that is not answered in the kit? The Ovu-Trac® offers women excellent literature and individualized professional customer support - just check out our testimonials to see the difference quality makes.
